After running a personal best of 12.81 seconds in winning the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the LSU Alumni Gold meet Saturday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium, LSU senior Jasmin Stowers was named the Southeastern Conference runner of the week.
Stowers’ previous wind-legal personal best was 12.88, which she set as a freshman in 2011 while winning the 100 hudles in the SEC outdoor championship.
Her 12.81 race was the third-fastest worldwide this outdoor season. She is the top-ranked hurdler in the SEC and No. 2 in the NCAA.
Stowers also led off the Lady Tigers’ 4x100-meter relay team that ran a season-best 43.72 in a runner-up finish to Texas A&M (43.51) at the LSU Alumni Gold.
Other relay team members are Kiersten Duncan, Jada Martin and Rushell Harvey.
LSU MOVES UP TO NO. 43: The LSU women’s tennis team is ranked No. 43 this week in the ITA college tennis rankings.
The Lady Tigers went 2-1 in the SEC tournament last week with wins over Mississippi State and Tennessee.
The Lady Tigers were ranked No. 53 last week.
The NCAA will announce selections for the national tournament Tuesday, April 29.
