Former LSU great Doug Thompson, speaking on the "Culotta & The Prince" show on Monday, says the Tigers have plenty of young talent and depth this season.
Here are some of the highlights from Thompson:
On freshman Jake Godfrey being LSU's No. 3 starter for now:
"Perhanps it's not long term, but at this point I don't see a lot of benefit running him back out there and risking potentially he getting damaged in terms of his belief in his own personal htoughts of the way he's going about things. There is something that needs to be done. He's walking too many guys and there too many pitches over the heart of the plate, and hitters are batting close to .300 off of him...."
On freshman Austin Bain:
"He's shown that he can go out there and eat up a lot of innings. He's had several outings now where he has put up two or three good innings in a row."
On freshman Alex Lange:
"He's certainly gotten plenty of ink and tons of respect and well deserved. he is as good as you're going to get."
