HOOVER, Ala. — Kevin Gausman pitched seven strong innings and Jordy Snikeris homered and drove in four runs as LSU stayed alive in the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament by defeating Ole Miss 11-2 Thursday at Regionas Park.

Gausman (10-1) held the Rebels to seven hits and two runs in seven innings. Snikeris hit a two-run pinch double during a five-run eighth inning and it a two-run homer in the ninth as the top-seeded Tigers improved to 43-15. The ninth-seeded Rebels (35-24) were eliminated, but might still receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

Catcher Ty Ross was back in the starting lineup 12 days after undergoing an emergency appendectomy. He caught Gausman and went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

LSU will play the winner of Thursday afternoon’s game between Kentucky and Mississippi State in an elimination game at 3 p.m. Friday. Ryan Eades will start for the Tigers.
