ATHENS, Ohio — A tense point change in the second set after dropping the first was the catalyst the LSU volleyball team needed to take the next three sets to defeat Xavier (Ohio) 21-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 Saturday in the Bobcat Invitational.

Freshman Toni Rodriguez led LSU (1-5) with 18 kills and a .235 hitting percentage. Cati Leak had 15 kills and 16 digs. Cheyenne Wood had 20 assists.

Kristen Massa paced Xavier (2-4) with 10 kills. Mackenzi Humm had 23 assists and 12 digs. Meredith Klare had 21 digs.

LSU hosts Purdue at 7 p.m. Friday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ through WatchESPN.

LSU soccer team hosts Indiana on Sunday

The LSU soccer team seeks to extend its unbeaten streak to six when it hosts Indiana at 1 p.m. Sunday in the finale of the “Stomp in the Swamp.”

The match will be streamed on SEC Network+.

Striker Jorian Baucom leads the Tigers (3-0-2) with four goals. Midfielder Natalia Gomez-Junco had four assists.

The Hoosiers (3-1-1) have won three straight.
