Ed Orgeron didn't have to look far to find a top linebacker.

LSU went across town to sign inside linebacker Damone Clark out of Southern Lab on Wednesday, giving the Tigers two top products at the position of need. Clark will be joined by Micah Baskerville out of Evangel Christian in Shreveport.

Clark was high on LSU's targets for the class with Orgeron taking his first in-home visit of the 2018 class to meet with the 6-foot-3, 218 pound defender, according to 247Sports.

After being primarily recruited by LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, Clark chose LSU over Michigan, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M and Miami, among others. he committed back in January.

What They’re Saying:

"The biggest thing he adds to the football team is leadership. It’s hard when you ask a 17-year-old young man to lead a football that has a tradition of winning, but the kids rallied behind him and they listened." - Southern Lab coach Darrell Asberry
