Just minutes after 13th-ranked Pepperdine took a 1-0 lead in Sunday's finale at the 2011 LSU Invitational, freshman Alex Arlitt scored to tie the game as the LSU soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with the Waves as part of the opening weekend of the LSU Soccer Stadium.

Sunday's match marked the first meeting between LSU (3-3-1) and Pepperdine (6-0-2) as the Tigers extended their home unbeaten streak to three games.

The Tigers host McNeese State at 7 p.m. Friday.

SANG YI TIES FOR THIRD PLACE, LSU GOLFERS EIGHTH IN SEASON OPENER: In Rocky Face, Ga., senior Sang Yi closed out the 23rd annual Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic with a 2-under 70 in Sunday's final round to tie for third place on the leaderboard with his 54-hole score of 5-under 211 at The Farm Golf Club.

Yi's performance helped the Tigers earn an eighth-place finish in the final team standings as No. 17 LSU posted an even-par 288 in the final round for a final score of 9-over 873 in its 2011-12 season opener.

Auburn maintained its five-stroke lead entering the final round to take this year's team championship with a winning score of 13-under 851, including a 6-under 282 in the final round.

LSU WOMEN LEAD COUGAR CLASSIC: In Charleston, S.C., LSU started 2011-12 with an 8-under-par 280 for a four-shot, first-round lead over Florida in the College of Charleston Cougar Classic on Sunday.

The fourth-ranked Lady Tigers were one of five teams that broke par on the opening day of the 54-hole tournament which runs through Tuesday.

Individually, senior Tessa Teachman and defending NCAA champion Austin Ernst are tied for second at 5-under 67.

LSU will tee off the second round at 11:45 a.m. Monday.
