The University of Florida Police Department is investigating Gators backup quarterback Treon Harris for sexual assault, and he’s been suspended from the team, according to a statement released by the university.

LSU (4-2, 0-2 Southeastern) plays at Florida at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The Gators (3-1, 2-1) were expected by many to start Harris, a true freshman from Miami who led Florida to a win at Tennessee on Saturday.

Florida starter Jeff Driskel threw three interceptions in the 10-9 win over the Volunteers before being yanked for Harris. Driskel left the game with Florida down 9-0.

Florida canceled its weekly press conference Monday.

Harris is being accused of sexually assaulting a female student on Sunday morning in a residence hall, the university’s statement said.
