LSU Pick 6: Florida beat writer on why Gators have had this game 'circled on the calendar' for a while _lowres

LSU and Florida will meet in a top-10 showdown on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers (5-0, 3-0 SEC) remained No. 5 in the USA Today/coaches poll and moved up a spot to No. 6 in the AP top 25, both released Sunday, and the Gators (6-0, 4-0) are No. 11 and No. 8. It sets up an undefeated, top-10 clash in Baton Rouge.

Florida and LSU kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday on ESPN. They’ll meet as ranked teams for the 10th time in the last 12 seasons in an annual rivalry duel that began yearly in 1971. They clash as top-11 teams for the sixth time in the last 12 games. Florida leads the series 31-27-3, but LSU has won four of the last five.
