After a busy period of coaching staff changes in college football, USA Today Sports' Paul Myerberg takes a look at the best assistant coaching hires this season.

And a certain LSU offensive coordinator made the list.

Actually, Matt Canada topped the list. Here's how Myerberg, who notes that Canada will be paid "handsomely for his new position, justifies the lofty ranking:

"It was during the 2016 season with the Panthers that Canada earned national recognition for a detailed yet still simple system — in its basic approach to offense, at least — that should fit well with LSU’s returning talent base," he writes.

Rounding out the Top 3 are Ohio State co-offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and Texas defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. Alabama's new offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkinsian, is ranked the No. 5 best hire.
