FISHERIES NOTICES

STATE RECREATIONAL RED SNAPPER SEASON: Closure scheduled for 11:59 p.m., Dec. 31 in state waters, and will not reopen until Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries Commission votes to reopen the state season.

FEDERAL RECREATIONAL Red Snapper Season: Closed in federal waters throughout the Gulf of Mexico.

RECREATIONAL FISHING CLOSURES/reopening seasons: Federal & state waters, greater amberjack & gray triggerfish seasons closed for remainder of 2014. Gag grouper closure through July 1, 2015. Greater amberjack (30-inch fork length minimum), gray triggerfish (14-inch fork length minimum, 2 per day) & red grouper (20-inch total length minimum, 4-per-day) seasons reopen Jan. 1 in federal and state waters.

Fall INSHORE SHRIMP SEASON: Closed in some state inshore and offshore waters. See Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website (www.wlf.louisiana.gov/fishing/shrimp-seasons) for remaining open waters.

COMMERCIAL KING MACKERAL CLOSURE: Closed in state & federal waters.

COMMERCIAL NON-SANDBAR LARGE COASTAL SHARKS OPENS: 12:01 a.m., Jan. 1, 2015. Recreational & commercial seasons for all sharks in La. waters will close from 12:01 a.m. April 1, 2015 until 12:01 p.m. July 1, 2015. Commercial take for small coastal sharks in state waters opens Jan. 1 and will be open until 80 percent of the federal quota is met.
