The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is moving to a new licensing system and advises sportsmen that its license sales will be suspended Jan. 30-31 to make the transition to the new system.

Then from Feb. 1-April 1, recreational licenses will be available only through internet sales via the agency's website: wlf.la.gov, and from state headquarters in Baton Rouge and the Monroe, Opelousas, Lake Charles and Alexandria field offices.

The department expects retail-vendor operations will be able to sell licenses by April 2 after the new system goes online.

Sportsmen can call (888) 362-5393 if assistance is needed to purchase a license between Feb. 2-April 1.
