Photo provided by NICK RAUBER Breaking his record Following in his father’s footsteps, the now veteran offshore angler Eric Valenciano broke the Swollfest Rodeo record he held in the cobia category when he battled this 79.4-pound giant to win the category in the 2016 Swollfest held in Grand Isle over last weekend. His dad, Rudy Valenciano from Batn Rouge has dominated mangrove snapper rodeo catches for several years, and Team Valenciano dominated that Swollfest category, too. Eric Valenciano’s cobia also took the lead in the category for CCA’s summer-long Statewide Tournament and Angler’s Rodeo.
