Lottery hunt applications for deer, duck and squirrel on 10 Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ wildlife management areas are open, and prospective hunters need only apply.
Three WMAs — Sherburne, Richard Yancey and Camp Beauregard — are easily accessible to southeast and Acadiana area hunters. The recently renamed Yancey WMA is the old Three River-Red Rivers complex off La. 15 in lower Concordia Parish.
Other lottery hunts will be offered on the Bayou Pierre, Buckhorn, Dewey Wills, Floy McElroy, Sabine and Ouachita WMAs.
Applications, various deadlines, hunting dates and other regulations are listed on the LDWF’s website: www.wlf.louisiana.gov/hunting/lottery-hunts. The LDWF announcement indicated hunts involve the general public along with disabled veterans, youths and physically challenged hunters. Applications also are available at local LDWF field offices.
Each lottery application carries a $5 fee, which must be submitted with each application.
