THIBODAUX — Southern had six players score in double figures in beating Nicholls State 106-92 in an exhibition game Wednesday at Stopher Gymnasium.

The proceeds from the game went to Hurricane Harvey relief through the American Red Cross.

Southern, picked to finish second in the SWAC, had six players score in double figures led by 28 points from Eddie Reese. Also for Southern, Jared Sam had 16 points, Patrick Smith scored 15, Chris Thomas had 12, Emanuel Sheperd finished with 11 and Aaron Ray had 10.

Peters scored the majority of his points from the free throw line going 17-of-22 for the Colonels as Nicholls got 16 points from Lafayette Rutledge while Tevon Saddler scored 13 and Daniel Regis added 10.

Nicholls guard Roddy Peters scored 29 points.

 Southern led 43-36 at halftime.

Nicholls tips off its college basketball season at Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Nov. 10.
