Player to watch

DE Kedy Enabulele

8 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack

Enabulele, a strapping senior from Crosby, Texas, is part of a defensive line that performed beautifully last week. Against Alabama A&M, the Jaguars had three sacks and six hurries, and they allowed only 60 rushing yards. Against JSU, Enabulele and his teammates will have to stuff the inside running lanes and apply heavy pressure on quarterback Casey Therriault. The SU defensive line is small and thin on numbers, but must find a way to defeat JSU’s offensive line, which averages 316 pounds per man.

Player to watch

QB Casey Therriault

42 completions, 71 attempts, 555 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT

Everyone in the SWAC got a good look at Therriault last year, when he threw 31 touchdown passes - including five in a 49-45 win over the Jaguars. SU coach Stump Mitchell said he believes Therriault, a senior, should get a shot at the NFL. “He has an outstanding crew of receivers, but he’s a quarterback that has great efficiency and accuracy,” Mitchell said. “Just unbelievable.” Therriault stays calm in crunch time, and he can throw downfield while on the run. If he’s hot, Southern could be in for a long night.
