Billy Ceravolo, the former NOPD officer who dined with former Saints star Will Smith before Sunday’s tragic shooting, told WWL-TV the gathering was just a chance for old friends to get together and have a good time.

In an interview with WWL, Ceravolo decribes how he and Smith came to be friends, their plans to hang out and talk after dinner and the devastating scene he found when he arrived at the site of the shooting.

“I consider him my best friend,” Ceravola said. “To lose him was something I don’t know how I’m going to deal with.”
