Nashville is known as a songwriter’s town, and Louisiana native Jamie Lynn Spears is reaping the rewards of immersing herself in it. The actress turned singer-songwriter has her first single by another artist, as one of the writers behind Jana Kramer’s new hit, “I Got the Boy,” according to a story at Rollingstone.com

“It kind of scratched this itch, this urge that I’ve had to have another artist sing one of the songs I’ve written and release it as a single,” she said. “It’s a compliment that I was really flattered by.”

Spears, former Nickelodeon child star and younger sister of pop star Britney Spears, made her Louisiana concert debut as a country singer-songwriter in January 2014 at the Texas Club. In late 2014, Jamie Lynn Spears found the spotlight for a different reason, after she was caught on video wielding a huge knife to break up a sandwich shop melee in Hammond.
