Monroe’s automated water meter project is 86 percent complete, with almost all residential meters having been installed.

City officials said 93 percent of the meters are fully functioning and transmitting meter reads, city officials said. Very few are facing problems with transmission.

In May, city officials revealed that the $6.8 million installation project was facing installation and oversight issues, which in turn resulted in delayed billing to customers.

Last week, the city reported that those issues have been resolved, aside from the transmission problems faced by the 7 percent of residential meters experiencing installation problems or interference.
