A 22-year-old Marrero man was convicted in the shooting death of a Terrytown man.

A Jefferson Parish jury convicted Michael Davis of second-degree murder Thursday in the Oct. 12, 2009, death of 18-year-old Reginald Anthony.

Davis’ brother Jerry also was charged with murder in the case, as one of two gunmen who fired at Anthony. But on the eve of trial last month, prosecutors dismissed the case after he spent three years in jail on a $1 million bond.

His public defender Robert Louque Jr. said Thursday that the same witness identified both Davises as shooters. But Louque said he still hasn’t been told why prosecutors dismissed the case against his client.

Michael Davis faces mandatory life in prison for his conviction.
