Candidates seeking statewide races in the October primary must offer the latest details of their fundraising efforts and success.
The reports are due to the Louisiana Ethics Administration Program by Monday, covering their donations and spending for the latest quarter, from April 16 through July 14.
The finance reports are a bellwether a candidate’s ability to get out a message and to attract voters with TV and radio advertising by the Oct. 22 primary.
Gov. Bobby Jindal has yet to attract any well-financed opponents in his race.
Several statewide officials — Attorney General Buddy Caldwell, Treasurer John Kennedy, Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon and Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain — don’t have any announced opposition so far.
The official campaign sign-up period is Sept. 6-8.
