KILN, Miss. — Mississippi authorities said a 22-year-old man wanted on an attempted murder charge involving his mother in Louisiana was found sleeping in a vehicle in McLeod Park in Kiln.
Sheriff Ricky Adam said Jacobi Brumfield, of Hammond, was wanted by the Ponchatoula police on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Adam said Brumfield is accused of firing a shot through the front door of his mother’s home Jan. 13 after an argument at her residence.
Ponchatoula police said his mother asked him to leave. She had been sitting on the sofa and got up to secure the front door when a bullet pierced the door and lodged in the sofa.
Brumfield remains in custody at the Hancock County jail pending extradition.
