NEW ORLEANS — A former New Orleans police officer has pleaded guilty to four felony counts of malfeasance in office for writing false traffic tickets.
Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said Glen Gross, 43, entered the plea Monday before Judge Camille Buras.
The Police Department began an investigation of Gross, a 22-year veteran of the department assigned to the Information Technology Division, after noticing discrepancies in the tickets he was writing. The probe revealed about 200 false tickets that he had written under a federal grant.
As part of the plea, Cannizzaro’s office says Gross was required to resign. A police spokesman says Gross signed his retirement papers on Sunday.
Buras sentenced Gross to a suspended five-year sentence and ordered him pay $1,000 to the judicial expense fund.
