SLIDELL (AP) — Search crews have found the body of a Slidell man who fell overboard from a boat in rough waters in Lake Pontchartrain early Tuesday.

Searchers with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Coast Guard and Sea Tow pulled 21-year-old Isiah M. Tate’s body from the lake shortly after 2 p.m. The body was turned over to the parish coroner’s office to determine an exact cause of death.

Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman Adam Einck says three other passengers on the 21-foot-boat told investigators Tate fell overboard about 3:30 a.m. near the twin spans south of Slidell. The passengers say they found Tate twice but were unable to get to him before he disappeared.

Authorities say Tate was not wearing a personal flotation device.
