- The Cincinnati Reds have moved right-hander Homer Baileyto the 60-day DL, officially ending his chance to return this season. Bailey has an elbow injury described as a strained right flexor mass tendon. ManagerBryan Pricesaid Tuesday that a second MRI did not show enough improvement to where Bailey could get on a throwing program. Bailey was 9-6 with a 3.71 ERA in 23 starts.
St. Louis activated relieverJason Mottefrom the 15-day disabled list from a lower back strain, and added four others to put their active roster at 31 players. Motte has been on the DL since Aug. 2. He was the closer before reconstructive elbow surgery sidelined him all last season.
