BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU and Washington have changed the date of their 2012 meeting in Baton Rouge, moving the game up three weeks to Sept. 8.
Senior associate athletic director Verge Ausberry, who announced on the move on Monday, says the teams mutually agreed to move the game to the second week of the 2012 season.
The Tigers were originally scheduled to play the Huskies in Tiger Stadium on Sept. 29 of that season. Now LSU will meet Washington one week after opening its 2012 slate in Tiger Stadium against North Texas.
LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette says the change is a good fit for the Tigers and is meant to help Washington adapt to new scheduling requirements brought about by the recent expansion of the Pac-12 from 10 to 12 teams.
