NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Restricted free agent Marco Belinelli has accepted the Hornets’ $3.3 million qualifying offer and will return to the team’s lineup this season.

The Hornets made the offer for Belinelli in June, restricting his ability to sign with other teams. He decided to sign that offer Tuesday rather than hold out to see if another team would offer more.

The 25-year-old, 6-foot-5 Belinelli started 69 games last season, averaging 10.4 points in 24.5 minutes.

General Manager Dell Demps says Belinelli had the best year of his career last season and the team expects him to “continue to grow” and “be a valuable asset of our team this season.”
