Lubbock, Texas, is 750 miles away from Baton Rouge. Instead of making the 11-hour haul across Louisiana and Texas to that desolate spot, we hopped on the internet to see what’s happening in Lubbock, the home to Texas Tech, LSU’s opponent in the Texas Bowl.
So what’s happening? A lot. We skipped over to Houston, too, the home of the Texas Bowl.
- Excited for Fournette: Texas Tech has one of the nation’s worst rushing defenses. So, naturally, the Red Raider are pumped about the matchup with the nation’s rushing leader, LSU’s Leonard Fournette. They’ve got something to prove.
- Dream come true: A Texas Tech defensive lineman had a dream a few weeks ago that he dropped Leonard Fournette at the line of scrimmage. Premonition? Sure looks like it. He’ll get his chance to make the dream come true on Dec. 29. A local columnist says Fournette will “decimate” Tech’s defense.
- A&M a no go: More than a few Texas Tech fans were hoping for a reunion with former Big 12 rival Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl. That didn’t happen, of course.
- Fill-ins: Tech fired three defensive assistants a few days ago, but the Red Raiders plan to fill the vacancies with temporary coachesbefore the bowl game against LSU.
