SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — When the Oscar for Best Animated short film was awarded, it gave a lot of people in Shreveport reason to celebrate.

That’s because Shreveport’s Moonbot Studios’ William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg won the golden statue for “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore,”

The Times ( ) reports that Moonbot employees held their own Oscar watch party Sunday night, red carpet included. Emotions were high at the event where around 70 people anxiously watched and waited for the envelope to be opened. A loud thunder of cheers and shrill screams followed the announcement.

“Mr. Morris Lessmore” is Moonbot’s first released animation project. Founded in 2010, the studios has also developed and produced the iPad application, “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.”
