Mississippi State University says an all-clear has been issued on campus after a suspected gunman was taken into custody Thursday morning. The announcement was made through Maroon Alert, the university’s official twitter feed for emergency information.
No injuries were reported and there was no information on the identity of the suspected gunman or his motives.
Students and others on campus had been ordered to seek shelter after reports of a shooter at the campus’ Carpenter and Lee Halls, according to the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department and the Starkville Police Department.
With the alert lifted, campus operations were scheduled to resume at 2 p.m.
