OXFORD, Miss. — Stefan Moody and LaDarius White scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, as Ole Miss defeated Southern 69-38 on Thursday night.

Ole Miss (2-1) was never seriously threatened, racing to a 37-15 halftime lead with offensive surges of 17-4 and 8-0. The Rebels, with 11 different players scoring at least one basket, led by as many as 32 points in the second half.

Adrian Rodgers scored 11 and Keith Davis added 10 points for Southern (1-2), which finished 14 of 50 (28 percent) from the field, including 1 of 11 from 3-point range.

The Rebels were 24 of 60 (40 percent) from the field, but converted 16 of 21 free throws, forced 22 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 45-38.

Southern made just 9 of 17 from the free throw line.

Jarvis Summers had a five steals and five assists for Ole Miss.

Rodgers gave Southern an 8-7 lead with 16:18 left, as the Jaguars hit 3 of 5 shots to open the game. However, Southern cooled off considerably and finished 5 of 19 from the field in the first half as Ole Miss pulled away.

White and Moody each hit 3-pointers to highlight what proved to be the decisive 17-4 surge. The Rebels closed the first half with an 11-0 run, capped by a 3-point shot by Martavious Newby.

The Rebels led by 32 points on two occasions in the second half, the final time on an Anthony Perez dunk with 1:59 left.
