New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne took a moment this week to show some genuine respect for some members of the military at an Indiana airport, according to a Facebook post by a woman who witnessed the scene.
Amanda Cooper Lickliter’s post says Lil Wayne’s Gulfstream plane, waiting to depart the airport on Monday, was parked next to a military C130 when a group of men in uniform crossed the ramp into the lobby. She says pilots shut down the engines of Lil Wayne’s plane and the rapper and members of his entourage went over to the lobby to greet the men and shake their hands.
It appeared to be an impromptu gesture -- no press, and no mention of it, as of Wednesday, on Lil Wayne’s Twitter account, @LilTunechi.

So Lil Wayne came through IND today. At the same time he was due to depart, there was a military C130 arriving. It parked next to the Gulfstream he was on, and about 30 men in uniform crossed the ramp into the lobby. After they walked in front of the G-550, Lil Wayne apparently told his pilots he wanted off. They shut down their engines, and he and his boys got off their plane, came into the lobby, and shook every one of the service men’s hands. There was no press and no one to show off for...just a seemingly genuine act of respect. I know a lot of controversy surrounds him but, today, I was impressed.
