NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Estate of George Rodrigue has released “Mardi Gras 2014,” the first print released by the artist’s studio since his passing in December.

The silkscreen was designed by Rodrigue before his Dec. 14 death and has been printed posthumously in a limited numbered edition of 450. It features two of Rodrigue’s iconic Blue Dogs in Mardi Gras regalia against a striped background of purple, green, and gold.

“Mardi Gras 2014” is the continuation of a series of annual Mardi Gras works started in 1991.

Rodrigue’s son, Jacques, says the print is the first in a series to be released by the estate over the coming years.

The print is available for pre-order at
