NEW ORLEANS — The National Weather Service says a possible tornado touched down in the Garyville area of St. John the Baptist Parish in southeast Louisiana, downing power lines and some trees along Airline Highway.
Meteorologist Shawn O’Neil says a bay door was blown in at the Edgard fire station across the Mississippi River Wednesday morning.
O’Neil says no injuries have been reported as a line of heavy storms moved through the area.
Entergy Louisiana reports about 2,000 customers in the Garyville are without power.
O’Neil says the weather service will send a team to the area Wednesday to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado.
