On Saturday evening, the Prophets of Persia traveled to the Kremlin for the organization’s 88th annual bal masqué staged at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The event depicted the 1626 grand reception of Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich Romanov presenting Wladyslav IV of Poland to Tsarina Edvokia Streshneva.
Mikhail, the first Romanov tsar, established a dynasty that would see Russia grow into a vast empire of over 100 million subjects, encompassing one-sixth of the Earth’s surface and stretching halfway around the globe. Ultimately, Tsar Mikhail’s reign brought an end to “The Times of Trouble.” He and the tsarina welcomed the king of Poland to their court following the signing of an advantageous treaty.
