Ask Arthur Hardy: Municipally speaking _lowres

Question: What krewes used to hold their balls in the Municipal Auditorium?

Arthur Hardy: The ball schedule at the auditorium peaked with 68 events in 1974. Pre-Katrina the total was about 25. Among them were the oldest parading and non-parading clubs. But vendor issues would have to be worked out between the krewes and the city for balls to return to the auditorium.

Question: When Comus last paraded, was it on the traditional Uptown route or still in the French Quarter?

Arthur Hardy: It was on the Uptown route starting on Napoleon and Laurel. No Mardi Gras parade has rolled through the French Quarter since 1973.
