Three places to get fried fish today _lowres

Lenten fish fries offer families a break from cooking and organizations a way to raise money and build community. Here are just three of the many possibilities frying today:

1. UPTOWN: The Knights of Columbus, de la Salle Council 3411, will host its fish fry every Friday through Lent at 6:30 p.m. at the Blessed Pauline Center, 4219 Constance St., New Orleans. Plates will consist of fried fish, French fries, coleslaw, a vegetable, dessert and a soft drink, for $8. (504) 899-1378

2. ST. BERNARD: Seafood dinners will be served from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Fridays through March 27 in Iverson Hall at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard. Eat in or take out. Price depends on meals, from dishes to big platters. (504) 281-2267

3. EAST JEFFERSON: St. Agnes Men’s Club will offer fried shrimp as well as fish, along with French fries, cole slaw, iced tea and bread, on Friday starting at 5 p.m. in the Marquette Activity Center, 3310 Jefferson Highway, Jefferson.
