• PLAQUEMINES PARISH SEAFOOD FESTIVAL: 10 a.m., Plaquemines Parish Seafood Festival, 225 F Edward Hebert Blvd., Belle Chasse. Local seafood and other unique, local food specialties, live music from popular local bands, and traditional Cajun music, crafts from local artisans, carnival rides, sandbagging contests, and the Seafood Queen Pageant. Helicopter rides offer a view of the region and the Mississippi River.
  • NATCHEZ FESTIVAL OF MUSIC: Natchez, Miss. Continues through May 24. The festival’s signature event is a 50th anniversary tribute to the Beatles coming to America. Other productions and concerts, some free, are scheduled on weekends throughout May and genres include opera, musicals, jazz, swing, big band and more. There’s also a musical wine tasting.


  • FISHING RODEO & FAMILY FUN: 11:30 a.m., Myrtle Grove Marina, 161 Marina Road, Belle Chasse. Individuals, kayak fishers and teams compete in the fishing contest. Individuals and kayakers $20, teams $30.
