Read columnist and photographer Steven Forster’s coverage of New Orleans’ social events at The New Orleans Advocate.

Events featured in this edition:

On Camera: The New Orleans Film Society held a special Producers Circle reception at the home of Jim and Sandie McNamara to welcome director Cecilia Peck on the opening night of the society’s fifth annual film festival, called filmOrama. Peck, daughter of legendary actor Gregory Peck, is director of “Brave Miss World,” a documentary on Linor Abargil’s advocacy work as a rape survivor after having been raped six weeks prior to her Miss World crowning in 1998.

Chamber After Hours: The full-sized turf football field at the New Orleans Saints indoor training facility in Metairie became a dance floor and gathering place for 700 guests at the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce’s annual gala recently. With sponsors including the New Orleans Saints and Ochsner, the chamber presented a silent auction, music by Mojeaux and the opportunity for photos with the Lombardi Trophy. Proceeds from the event supported the chamber’s work to enhance quality of life in Jefferson Parish.
