“Centurions Explore the World of Emotions” was the theme for the krewe’s Celebration XXXVI Saturday in the Grand Ballroom of the New Orleans Marriott Hotel.

Reigning as Queen Centurion XXXVI was Miss Emily Lauren Kiefer of Destrehan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Kiefer.

Reigning as King Centurion XXXVI was Mr. Rick Lee Mercer of Metairie.

The queen wore a white sheath gown of peau de soie, accented in pink and gold with Austrian rhinestones, accented with imported gold and lace appliques. Her white plumed collar of peau de soie petals was trimmed in rhinestones with pink sequins and appliques. Her train of velvet had as its central motif the Centurion crest. A custom crown and scepter of Austrian rhinestones set in gold completed her regal ensemble.

The king wore a traditional tunic-style costume of white peau de soie heavily encrusted with Austrian stones and rhinestones. His tunic was accented with pink and gold Austrian stones, rhinestones and appliques. The motif and color of his collar and mantle matched that of the queen. His royal regalia included a custom rhinestone and gold crown and scepter.

Representing emotions, the maids to the royal court, were Misses Keri Lynn Mercer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joey Mercer, representing “Hope”; Kaileigh Elizabeth Kinler, daughter of Mr. Ronald Perrin Jr. and stepdaughter and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jules Caulfield, depicting “Horror”; and Kalli Quinn Mercer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mercer, depicting “Jealousy.”

Dukes to the royal court were Messrs. Jordan Fernandez, Ed Hilderbrand and Jay Accardo.

Pages to the king and queen were Misses Ava and Allison Gauthier, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Devin Gauthier; Gabrielle Jaubert, daughter of Mr. Henry Jaubert and Ms. Betsy Fisher; and Krissi Mercer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mercer.

Ladies in waiting were Misses Madelyn Berner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Berner; and Lily Bourgeois, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bourgeois III.

During dinner the guests were entertained by music by More Music. The tableau began with the playing of the National Anthem and the lighting of the Centurion crest.

The captain and officers of the krewe, in formal attire, were introduced. The captain made several salutes to the guests, including a special salute to the honored guests. He escorted the queen into the ballroom.

To complete the court, the king greeted his subjects. As a finale, the captain, officers, royals and court salutes to the guests.

The Helen Cox High School Marching Band entertained the guests with a spirited march through the ballroom. The guests were treated to a surprise special appearance of the world-renowned 610 Stompers.

Master of ceremonies for the bal masque was Mr. Michael H. Rasch. General chairman was Mr. Michael Bourgeois Sr. Court Committeemen were Messrs. Val Pitre and Leonard Kinler, Floor committeemen were Messrs. Christopher Henderson, Ed Hilderbrand, Ernest Meisner, Carl Henderson, Wayne Allain, Mark Bowen, Michael Bourgeois Jr., and Joey Mercer.

After the presentation of the tableau, “No Idea” and “Bench Warmers” entertained the members and guests.
