Sargon LXXIII and his queen, Miss Maia Elizabeth-Pari Massiha, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Hamid Massiha, reigned over the bal masque of the Knights of Babylon in the Mardi Gras Ballroom at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel following the organization's annual procession along the Uptown route.
The theme for the Thursday ball and parade, “The Gifts of the Gods to New Orleans,” was a tribute to the gifts of the deities bestowed on the city as seen through the eyes of Zeus and Hera. The various offerings and gods were represented by Ganymede for sugar, Arachne for cotton, Pomona for fruit, Diana for games, Naiads for rivers and lakes and Apollo and Terpsichore for music and dance.
Maids in the royal court were Misses Abigail Jordan Anger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Anger; Lynn Mary Hammel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Stephen Hammel; Mercy Ann Lindell, daughter of Ms. Kelly Ann Cahill; Sophia Anna Musso, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Louis Musso; Alia Elizabeth Ryan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Hallaron Ryan; Alona Joy and Kelsey Corrin Cahill Wideman, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Joey Collen Wideman.

An abundance of fresh, fragrant flowers filled the ballroom and embellished the stage as the gold and silver lamé drapes accented with flowers and greenery provided an elaborate backdrop for the presentation of the court.
During the evening’s festivities, the 2017 queen, Miss Jenna Ann Mintz, was presented with a bouquet of white roses and orchids at her presentation to Sargon and his queen.
The music for the tableau was provided by CARNAVAL! Orchestra, under the direction of B.J. Perez III.
After the ball, the evening was climaxed by a gala supper dance with Jubilation followed by Vince Vance and the Valiants.
Prior to the parade, a royal court reception was held in honor of the queen at the Desi Vega’s Steakhouse.
General chairman was retired Lt. Col. Robert Brown and vice general chairman was Mr. J. Ronald Atchley. Committeemen were Messrs.
