The Krewe of Caesar celebrated its 39th annual bal masque in the Celestin Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Saturday with the theme “Caesar's Cartoon Rewind.” The theme was carried out with the presentation of the court amid a display of pyrotechnics, lasers, special effects and colorful décor.

The krewe chose Mr. Craig John Singletary as Emperor Caesar XXXIX, and reigning as Empress Caesar XXXIX was Miss Olivia Marie Scarber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Glen Scarber.

The maids in her majesty’s court wore elaborate LED-lit shoulderpieces representing a variety of familiar cartoons. The maids to the empress were Misses Sarah Nicole Besson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Andrew Besson, representing "The Three Caballeros"; Anna Katherine Breaux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Breaux, representing "Aristocats"; Sophia Erin Chifici, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Vincent Chifici, representing "The Flintstones"; Therese Mary Chifici, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark David Chifici, representing "My Little Pony"; Jacqueline Ann Dantagnan, representing "The Muppets" and Katherine “Kate” Dantagnan, representing "Dumbo," daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Walter Dantagnan IV; Jessica Lee Michon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Landreneau, representing "Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang"; and Olivia Theresa Normand, daughter and stepdaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Raymond Normand and daughter of Ms. Lauren Theresa Nicolich, representing "Scooby Doo."

The empress represented Princess Aurora from the Disney classic "Sleeping Beauty." She wore an embroidered gown trimmed in silver and gold appliqués and Austrian rhinestones. Her three-dimensional shoulderpiece had as its central motif a large rhinestone-encrusted crown with the fairy godmothers on each side. The entire collar was lit with LED lighting and surrounded with white fantasia plumes and pink accent feathers. Her mantle had as its central motif Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip dancing in celebration and was trimmed in silver and gold appliqués and Austrian rhinestones.

The emperor represented the epic battle between the dragon Maleficent and Prince Phillip from "Sleeping Beauty." He wore a white peau de soie tunic trimmed in gold and silver appliqués and Austrian rhinestones. The enormous LED-lit dragon encompassing the shoulderpiece was trimmed in silver and gold and Austrian rhinestones. His collar was surrounded with white fantasia plumes. His mantle featured Prince Phillip’s royal coat of arms as its central motif and was trimmed in silver, gold and Austrian rhinestones.

The captain, who entered the ballroom amid smoke, laser lighting and pyrotechnic effects, represented “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” He wore a tunic of purple and black velvet with multicolored stones and Austrian rhinestones. LED lights illuminated his shouldpiece which featured the characters Jack Skellington and Sally. The shoulderpiece was surrounded by purple plumes accented with silvertail feathers. The central motif of his cape were the characters Lock, Stock and Barrel in their famous bathtub.
