Music, cocktails, food and an awards ceremony, all for the cause of preservation. Awards will be presented to some of New Orleans’ pre-eminent musicians and the institutions that support them, including Dave Bartholomew, Wendell Brunious, Ronnie Kole, the New Leviathan Oriental Fox-Trot Orchestra and Don Vappie. Sharon Martin & Company will perform at the patron party, which begins at 7 p.m., and Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs will perform at the gala. Drenched 5K

A new twist on the 5K run: Sprint, gallop or walk til your internal thermostat hits the red zone; afterward, cool off with water slides, spray guns, “the world’s biggest balloon fight” and more. Live music. Family and friends can buy a no-run pass to get in on the wet fun. Hook a Kid on Fishing
