Calling all shutterbugs for City Park photo contest _lowres

'Oak in Meadow' by Frank Coco won first place in a nature category in the 2014 City Park photo contest.

With its lush greenery, sparkling waterways, family-oriented recreation areas and historic architecture, New Orleans City Park might just be a photographer’s paradise.

Park officials are sponsoring a photo contest this summer, encouraging shutterbugs to capture that beauty.

Categories are: art and architecture; flowers, plants and trees; animals; people in the park; and recreation and sports.

Deadline for submissions is July 7. Photos must be taken between May 1 and June 30.

Each photographer may submit up to two pictures, and each entry must be accompanied by an entry form and a signed registration form.

Prizes include tickets to park attractions, gift certificates, picture books and more.

The media sponsor of the contest is The New Orleans Advocate, and first-place winners will be published in the newspaper. Winning photographs will also be displayed in Morning Call, The Oscar J. Tolmas Center, and the Administration Lobby in City Park during July and August, and the best in show winner will appear on the home page of the park’s website.

Rules and forms, along with more information, can be downloaded at neworleans-citypark.com/the-heart-of-city-park-photo-contest-2016.
