Favorites and fairy tales dominate as the curtain rises in September on a new season of Broadway in New Orleans at the Saenger Theatre.

The season opens with fairy tales: Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” featuring songs like “Under the Sea” from the animated cartoon; and “Cinderella,” the Rodgers and Hammerstein score accompanied by an orchestra.

“Beauty and the Beast” is back at the New Year.

Among the favorites: “Book of Mormon,” “Wicked” and “Cabaret” make encore appearances.

Other offerings: “Disney’s Newsies,” “Motown: The Musical” and “Kinky Boots.”

“This season once again celebrates the diversity of Broadway and brings its biggest hits along with widely-loved family classics to the Saenger Theatre,” said David Skinner, general manager of Ace Theatrical Group, Inc., and the Saenger Theatre. “From the memorable scenes to outstanding scores, we are proud to offer a sensational new season that we hope our audiences will appreciate.”
