Elton John's epic three-year farewell tour, an especially long goodbye even by pop star standards, is slated to stop at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Dec. 6, 2018.

Following various pre-sales, tickets on on sale to the general public on Friday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. Ticket prices range from $46.50 to $221.50 plus service charges through Ticketmaster.

At age 70, John has decided to wind down his traveling life and, he says, spend more time with his family. The upcoming tour is dubbed, appropriately, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, after one of the most famous lyrics by his songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin.

The international tour, produced by AEG Live, kicks off on September 8and is slated to include approximately 300 performances featuring an elaborate production chronicling his 50-year career. The tour will visit five continents before it concludes in 2021. Gucci will design John's no-doubt glittering wardrobe for the tour.

During a press conference on Tuesday in New York to announce the farewell trek, John made clear that he would continue to write and record music even after the tour. He also suggested he might continue his ongoing residency in Las Vegas.

So he's not saying farewell to performing, only to performing on the (yellow brick) road.

In other piano player news, jazz-pop singer Diana Krall is headed to the Saenger Theatre on June 24. Tickets for her show, promoted by Beaver Productions, go on sale Jan. 26.
