Napoleon Avenue paradegoers can get their “Neutral Ground Side” T-shirts out of mothballs for 2017's Carnival season. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, all major construction on the avenue will be complete before the first parades roll.

“The Whimsical Imagination of Dr. Seuss” was the theme for the ball of the Krewe of Neophermenos, held the Friday before Mardi Gras at the Jefferson Orleans South.
The passing parade called Carnival has come and gone, and if you passed a good time, you’re swamped by strands of colorful beads you no longer crave. Why not donate them to New Orleans area organizations that recycle them?
Working with recycled materials is both an artistic statement and a business model for Heather Macfarlane, and Mardi Gras beads are her main medium.
