Photos: Bacchus rolls Sunday, closing out biggest Mardi Gras weekend in New Orleans _lowres

Advocate staff photo by SCOTT THRELKELD -- Bacchus XLVIII Anthony Mackie celebrates Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, as the Krewe of Bacchus rolls on the Uptown route to the theme, 'Flights of Delight.' More than 1,400 male riders on 31 tossed 'Super Bacchus Sunday,' footballs, lighted Bacchus crests, 16-inch lighted scepters and doubloons in different colors and sizes.

Bacchus is no stranger to big names reigning as king -- and several have announced they'll return for the 50th anniversary.

J.K Simmons will reign as king of this year's parade, which is scheduled to roll at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday along its traditional Uptown route.

Former kings of Bacchus Anthony Mackie (2016), Jim Caviezel (2017), Andy Garcia (2011) and G.W. Bailey (2013) will also be joining for the celebration.

Simmons is also scheduled to visit patients at Children's Hospital on Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
