“MAGGIE”: In the New Orleans-filmed “Maggie,” a zombielike pandemic is sweeping through the Midwest. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a father who’s caring for his infected daughter, played by Abigail Breslin. Opening Friday at AMC Elmwood Palace 20.

“THE D TRAIN”: Jack Black’s Dan, hoping to bask in the reflected glory of a high school classmate who’s currently the face of a national ad campaign, convinces James Marsden’s Oliver to attend their high school reunion. Another New Orleans-shot film, “The D Train” opens Friday at AMC Elmwood Palace 20 and The Theaters at Canal Place.

“ADULT BEGINNERS”: A hipster entrepreneur (Nick Kroll) crashes and burns on the eve of his company’s big debut. His life in disarray, he leaves Manhattan and moves to the suburbs to stay with his estranged pregnant sister (Rose Byrne), brother-in-law (Bobby Cannavale) and 3-year-old nephew. “GETT: THE TRIAL OF VIVIANE AMSALEM”: An Israeli woman (Ronit Elkabetz) seeking to finalize her divorce from a cruel and manipulative husband finds herself placed on trial by her country’s religiously based marriage laws. Opening Friday at Chalmette Movies.

“MERCHANTS OF DOUBT”: Inspired by the book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, “Merchants of Doubt” takes a wry look at pundits-for-hire who present themselves as scientific authorities. Showing at The Theaters at Canal Place.
