“ANNIE”: The hit Broadway musical “Annie” gets a new film adaptation. Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter are among the producers of this “Annie” update starring 11-year-old Houma actress Quvenzhané Wallis. Jamie Foxx co-stars as the rich Will Stacks, the New York City mayoral candidate who takes orphan Annie. Cameron Diaz plays the cruel but comic Miss Hannigan and Rose Byrne is Stacks’ super-efficient right-hand woman.

“NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB”: The third “Night at the Museum” movie again stars Ben Stiller and other returning cast members, including Hollywood veterans Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney in two of their final film roles.

“THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES”: The conclusion of director Peter Jackson’s three-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” arrives with the action-packed “The Battle of the Five Armies.” Cast includes Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Ian Holm, Evangeline Lilly, Martin Freeman as the hobbit hero and Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of Smaug.

“SAGRADA: THE MYTH OF CREATION”: A documentary about La Sagrada Familia, an iconic building in Barcelona, Spain, that’s been under construction for 125 years. Opening Friday at Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center, 1618 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.

“THE BABADOOK”: A single mother, already disturbed by the violent death of her husband, must also battle her son’s fear that a monster is lurking in their house.
