Lundi Gras no longer a respite between weekend parades and Fat Tuesday _lowres

Before police on horseback ride through the French Quarter officially ending another Mardi Gras, the royal courts of Comus and Rex must meet.

The grand Carnival tradition can be seen live from the Sheraton and Marriot hotels starting at 7:30 p.m. on WYES, Channel 12 (cable Channel 12).

For the first time, WYES will also stream the broadcast live at

Hosts will be Peggy Scott Laborde and Errol Laborde, along with Dr. Stephen Hales, a Rex Organization official and krewe archivist. The live broadcast will repeat immediately following the first airing.

In addition to the meeting of the courts, the 3½-hour broadcast will also offer a brief history of Carnival 50 and 100 years ago, a vignette on the history of Rex’s

royal proclamations, and an interview with the 2015 Queen of Comus, along with interviews from Carnival

royalty past and present. Also included will be a feature segment on the 2015 Queen and King of Carnival.
